1.   Infections that do not go away

If you keep on getting sick that’s not a health sign. Recurring infections, or infections that don’t want to go away are on the top of the list of low immune system symptoms. 

Recurring colds, persistent sniffles, lingering sinusitis and that annoying fungus on a toe are all little signs that immune system isn’t working well.

There are many reasons why the immune system goes low, but nutritional deficiencies are on top of the list.

2.  Feeling chilled frequently

3.  Feeling tired

The body requires a tremendous amount of energy when fighting infections. That’s why when you get sick you don’t dance around, but stay in bed. 

But don’t get mistaken. Fighting an infection does not always result in a fever. You immune system may be busy battling viruses while you don’t have any other warning symptoms except fatigue

That`s why persistent fatigue should raise a red flag. Chronic fatigue is  that one vague low immune system symptom we may not take into consideration while weighing the immune system strength. 

4.  Being overweight

Carrying extra pounds isn’t indifferent to the immune system. Adipose tissue isn’t inert. It is intimately communicating with the immune system.

6.  Low blood cholesterol

Low blood cholesterol is not a symptom, but a very important predictor of body defensive powers. Ref Many people lower cholesterol in false belief that lower cholesterol numbers is a sign of better health. This is incorrect.

People with low cholesterol have higher susceptibility to infections than those with low cholesterol. Ref They also have statistically higher cancer mortality. Ref

7.  Night sweats

Body defenses is one of those most difficult areas to test. There are currently no adequate blood test to measure immune system strength. Your doctor can count white blood cells and their subsets, but can’t tell  whether they work well.

Blood test does not tell how active or effective white blood cells are. It can only show WBC count. Thus, you may still have a powerlessly low immune system, when your white blood cell count is within normal range.
