Party friendly turnip fries

These are taste-friendly, kid-friendly non-junk fries which can be served as a side dish or as a starter. You can serve these fries at parties as part of a healthier snack line.

Turnips belong to cruciferous family which is high in liver-detoxifying compounds. Although not low glycemic food turnips contain lots of valuable nutrients and a good helping of fibre.

Ingredients:

  • 2-8 turnips
  • 1/4 – 1/2 olive oil
  • minced garlic
  • 1/2 – 1 tsp salt

Preparation:

  • Preheat oven to 450F
  • Cut turnips into fries and steam until soft, but mot mushy (15 min)
  • Transfer to baking pan and sprinkle with garlic and salt
  • Bake 12-18 min. Turn or add more oil if they start to burn.
  • Serve immediately or fries will get soggy
